The
Balfours
in
Orkney
A
collection of genealogical data on the Balfour family, tracing its
origins from 11th century Fife but dealing primarily with the Orcadian
branches, including the senior line, whose antecedents settled in Westray
in Orkney in the 16th century.
Although
the surname is extinct in Westray, there are still branches of the family
on the Orkney mainland stemming from William Sinclair Balfour who removed
from Berriedale in Westray to the farm of Breck in Rendall in the late 1800s.
